Our Music Director, Ray Ryan

The Firhouse Singers are a mixed voice choir that was formed in 1976, and we are based in the Firhouse area of Dublin. We are a reasonably large group of singers (c.50 members) dedicated to producing harmonious and memorable music to suit all tastes and ages. Our music director is Ray Ryan, who has been our musical leader and guiding light since the choir's creation.

The Firhouse Singers are an amateur singing group with a truly professional sound. We have great fun singing together, and perform at concerts and festivals throughout Ireland. We are available to perform at festival events, Christmas and summer fairs, conventions, corporate and private parties as well as charitable functions. We originally set out wearing a traditional choir uniform of white blouse / shirt, black skirt / trousers and red scarves / bow ties. However, we have now developed a house-style more in keeping with the times and, more importantly perhaps, creating a recognisable identity for our chorus and setting us apart from others.

We're stronger than ever

We've been going since 1976 and in June 2006 we celebrated our 30th anniversary with a special concert at Firhouse parish church. We enjoyed celebrity status as our event was reported in the local newspaper. The choir is still growing, and we're always interested in meeting new potential members.

Feel Like singing with us? We are always looking for new members and if you want to see what we can offer why not come along to one of our rehearsals - you'll be very welcome. We rehearse regularly on Wednesday evenings from 8.30pm - 10.00pm, so why not contact us and arrange a visit. Our rehearsal venue is located in Firhouse. You'll find full details in Contact Us.

Age is unimportant - all you need to have is a desire to sing. Our music director coaches us personally during our rehearsals and, as a member of the group, you will have access to all the musical scores and mp3 files you need in our Members Area, so that you can practice outside of rehearsals. The bathroom will never have sounded so good!
